As you read below there are many scriptures that encourage us to meditate. There are many ways to meditate but mostly meditation deals with being still, quieting the mind and focusing on your breath to hear the whispers of a still, small voice. Some say it's the voice of God, others say it's your inner voice while some believe they are one in the same. "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." Psalm 82:6

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
βIf the mind falls asleep, awaken it. Then if it starts wandering, make it quiet. If you reach the state where there is neither sleep nor movement of mind, stay still in that, the natural (real) state.β β Ramana Maharshi
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
